ANNEXATION GUIDELINES AND PROCEDURES

Mayor Atlznauer advised City Attorney John Nix the County would like for us to annex going I-20 North and going West to the Walton County line. He said they provided the City with four different maps labeled 1 through 4. Map number one as most important and four being the least important. Attorney John Nix went over the different methods of annexation. He said when annexing unincorporated land you will need to provide more services. When you annex you make the area more urban. You need to identify the area, talk to the property owners and have a plan to provide services. There is a list of things you will have to do. The following things are what I suggest:

Know your steps

Find someone to assist you

Have a plan on how to provide services

Change/update your zoning ordinance

Brandie Owens made motion to adjourn the work session at 6:08. Tony Sells seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.
