CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Bruce Altznauer called to order the regular meeting of the Rutledge City Council on the above date. Council Members Brenda Thompson, Brandie Owens, Adam Beckstine and Tony Sells were present as were members of the public.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Mayor Altznauer called for and led the Pledge of Allegiance.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Council member Tony Sells made motion to approve the minutes of the April 20, 2021 meeting as submitted. Brenda Thompson seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.

AGENDA AMENDMENT

Council member Brandie Owens made motion to amend the agenda to remove discussion of trees from item number three and add approval of business license. Brenda Thompson seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.

BUSINESS LICENSCE APPROVAL – 104 EAST MAIN ST. – HEATHER EDGE

Mayor Altznauer informed the council a business license application was received from Heather Edge for a business located at 104 East Main Street called Hannah-Blue. He said will be an artist design and décor shop and studio to include furniture, clothing, artwork, gifts and seasonal sweets. He said the use is allowed. Tony Sells asked Ms. Edge to tell them about the business. She stated that they would create things, paint furniture, sell jewelry and rent space to artists upstairs. She said we will do a little of everything. Brenda Thompson asked what the location of the building was. She said it at 104 East Main Street. The Mayor replied it is the old Antique Walk. Brenda Thompson made motion to approve the business license for Hannah – Blue located at 104 East Main Street. Brandie Owens seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried. The Council welcomed Ms. Edge to Rutledge and advised that she would be open on May 29th and asked them to come by and see it.

DISCUSSION OF SPEED HUMPS FAIRPLAY STREET – MICHAEL WIEMANN

Not present.

DISCUSSION OF PAVING BIDS -HAWKINS AVENUE

Mayor Altznauer advised the council the city received two bids for Hawkins Avenue. East Coast Grading at $69,319.46 and Garrett Paving at $73,437.34. He stated one manhole was left off East Coast but would only change the amount by $200.00. Tony Sells asked if we were comparing apples to apples. Mayor Altznauer said they bid the job by the list of requirements. Brandie Owens said Garrett Paving was higher on the stripping and the manholes.

Adam Beckstine made motion to award the bid to East Coast Grading in the amount of $69,319.46. Tony Sells seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried. Tony Sells asked when they would start and Mayor Altznauer advised that Ricky Blevins will be repairing the sinking spots in the road before the paving begins. He said after the paving is finished speed humps will be installed.

Brenda Thompson made motion to adjourn at 7:11 PM. Tony Sells seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.
